Before configuring an ODBC driver on a Mac, you will need to download and install a Driver Manager, iODBC. Refer to your System Requirements documentation for iODBC versions compatible with your ODBC Driver:
iODBC can be downloaded from iODBC.org.
For this example, we are using version 3.52.12.
Download mxkozzzz.dmg file to your computer. Double click mxkozzzz.dmg file to mount the disk image
Double click iODBC-SDK.pkg to run the installer. You will be guided through the steps necessary to install this software. Now you can register your ODBC driver.
Step 1: Install the ODBC Driver¶ To install the Snowflake ODBC driver for macOS: If you haven’t already downloaded the driver, download it now. For details, see Downloading the ODBC Driver. Double-click on the downloaded.dmg file, snowflakeodbcmac.dmg. ODBC driver manager is not distributed along with our driver and must be installed separately. ODBC Driver for SQLite is compatible with iODBC driver manager. In case when using other ODBC driver managers, ODBC Driver for SQLite will be installed, but it will require manual modification of configuration files of these managers.
PsqlODBC - PostgreSQL ODBC driver. PsqlODBC is the official PostgreSQL ODBC Driver. It is released under the Library General Public Licence, or LGPL. Downloads are available in source and binary formats at the PostgreSQL downloads site.
Permission setup for iODBC on Mac OS
If you installed a previous version of the Vertica ODBC driver for Mac OS X, your system may already have a registered driver named 'Vertica.' In this case, If you must remove or rename the older version of the driver before installing the Vertica ODBC driver.pkg. ODBC Manager is a replacement for Apple's ODBC administrator utility, which is no longer included with Mac OS X (starting with Snow Leopard). ODBC Manager also addresses some of the problems.
Allow write permissions to enable value update of USER DSN in iODBC Administrator
- In Finder, from your home {username} folder, go to {username}/Library/ODBC folder and find the file named odbc.ini.
In this blog, we only need to allow the permission in user’s folder because we are only updating value in USER DSN. If you want to use a SYSTEM DSN instead, click “Go” in the finder menu and choose “Go to Folder…” or press Shift + Command + G as shortcut. Type in /Library/ODBC and click on “Go”.
You can find the file named odbc.ini. - Right click on odbc.ini, and choose Get Info option.
- In Sharing & Permission section, ensure your user group has the permission to Read & Write. You might need administrator permission to edit this section. Click on the lock icon at bottom right corner to unlock the permission to edit the list.
the list, click the “+” button at bottom left corner to add yourself. Then select your privilege to see the options and set it as Read & Write.
- Now you are all set with the permission settings.
Microsoft Access 64 Bit Odbc Driver Download
You can obtain the Vertica ODBC driver for Mac OS X as a .pkg file through the myVertica portal. You can run the installer as a regular Mac OS X installer or silently. This driver is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
The installer is designed to be used with the standard iODBC Driver Manager included in Mac OS X. While Mac OS X ships with the iODBC Driver Manager already installed, you may choose to download the most recent version of the driver at the iODBC.org website.
By default, the installer installs the driver in the following location: /Library/Vertica/ODBC/lib/libverticaodbc.dylib. The installer also automatically registers a driver named 'Vertica' with the iODBC Driver Manager.
To use the unixODBC Driver Manager instead of Apple's iODBC Driver Manager, see the unixODBC.org website.
Before You Download the Driver
If you installed a previous version of the Vertica ODBC driver for Mac OS X, your system may already have a registered driver named 'Vertica.' In this case, If you must remove or rename the older version of the driver before installing the Vertica ODBC driver .pkg.
To have multiple versions of the driver installed on your system at the same time, you must rename the currently installed version of the driver to something other than 'Vertica.' You can do so using the Apple ODBC Administrator Tool.

Using your web browser, download and install the Apple ODBC Administrator Tool.
Locate and open the ODBC Administrator Tool after installation:
- Navigate to Finder > Applications > Utilities.
- Open the ODBC Administrator Tool.
Click the Drivers tab, and then select the driver named 'Vertica.'
Click the Configure button. A dialog box opens.
- In Description, enter a new name for the driver, and then click OK. The dialog box closes.
- On the ODBC Administrator page, click Apply.
Exit the ODBC Administrator Tool.
